As
we ministered to the tsunami torn villages in Thailand’s
south, God began to expose us to yet another crisis. Long
standing civil war against the ethnic minorities in Burma
has created massive displacement of thousands of villages
and generations of families who would otherwise live peacefully
in their own land.
This crisis
it too big to ignore, and the need is paramount for basics
that the rest of the world takes for granted. These things
include access to clean drinking water, food, medicine,
and educational materials.
Burma’s
war against its ethnic brother includes rape, forced labor,
annihilation of farm land and crops, burning villages and
driving the population away to refugee camps on the Thai
and Burma
borders. Even more alarming is the Burmese junta’s agenda
to crush Christianity, and all of its influences, within
the Karen State.
Love in Action
supports key missionaries who back pack aid into the war
torn, mine fettered hills of Kawthoolei, to deliver what
we can in the way of supplies. Unfortunately, this is not
a lone endeavor and we need help from the American Christian
Community.
We
need medical missionaries to train medics, access to medical
supplies and suppliers, teachers and teaching materials,
missions minded men and women to travel to the Thai/Burma
Border to assist. The need includes financial commitments
for rice, fish paste, salt, and cooking oil. Tarps for lean-to
structures (esp. during the monsoons), building materials,
Bibles in their native tongue, and PRAYER!
